Good news! The hard work of Tyler ISD students, teachers, and staff has paid off. Test scores for 2015-16 have improved. While there is still room to grow in reading and math, many schools showed marked improvements from previous years.Tyler ISD saw gains in 11 of 17 assessment areas when compared to 2015 scores. Since 2014, TISD has gone from having 11 campuses rated by the state as “Improvement Required” down to only three campuses in 2016.... Read More

Nominations for the 2016-2017 Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP) have opened for students entering college for the 2016-2017 academic year. Rep. Schaefer hosted more than fifty East Texans from Green Acres Baptist Church at the Capitol who travelled to Austin to hear Franklin Graham speak on the Capitol steps. The event was part of Graham’s nationwide Decision America Tour. A large crowd gathered at the Capitol to pray for the nation, state, and local elected officials and to promote greater religious freedom. Following the rally, Rep. Schaefer led a discussion on current threats to religious liberty law in Texas along with Rep. Scott Sanford (R-McKinney), who authored the Pastor/Clergy Protection Act passed in Texas in 2015, Rep.
